Gateway College is proud to have been selected a Top Ten Winner in the Best Management Practices Company Awards 2022 organised by the Institute of Charted Professional Managers of Sri Lanka (CPM). Gateway College presented the Performance Management Portal (PMP) to the judging panel to showcase one of the meaningful initiatives that the school took during the pandemic that will augur well in ‘getting back to business in the new normal’.
As the only Microsoft Showcase School in Sri Lanka, Gateway took steps to fully automate the process of teacher appraisals using Power Apps and Power BI. The judges were impressed by the sophistication of the PMP app and the extent to which the PMP app is able to capture many facets of teacher development. The PMP takes into account the performance of a teacher as a class teacher and/or a subject teacher, the teacher’s professional development and the delivery of lessons. The self-appraisal
and peer observation are integral components of the PMP.
The top ten included some of the large corporates and reputed banks such as Aitken Spence, Alliance Finance, Amana Takaful Bank, Bank of Ceylon, Commercial Bank, DFCC Bank, GSK, Haycarb PLC, Lanka IOC, Sierra Cables PLC, SLTC and Swiss Tec.
Pubudu Wijesinghe, Team Leader - Data Analytics who spearheaded the programme along with Nirupama Sonnadara, Head of HR whose team manages the appraisal process received the award on behalf of Gateway. They were ably supported by Surani Maithirpala, Team Leader – Change Management, the Principals and the Senior Management teams of all Gateway Schools in the overall design and development of the App which must probably be a first in the school sector.
